Postponed

I had my lining check ultrasound and E2 blood work today.

My lining check didn't go well at all. My poor pathetic lining, after 2 weeks of Estrogen stickers was only at a measly 4.9 mm. No triple line pattern or anything - nowhere even close to it. Just a sad blurb, 4.9mm thick.

I spent the morning in panic mode. DH has been trying to calm me down, telling me that we have good blastocysts to transfer, so there is nothing to worry about. At the very worst, we'll get postponed.

And postponed we got. The nurse just called - I'm being pushed out by a week. Instead of flying out on 2/24, we now fly out on 3/3, transfer on 3/4. My E2 level today was 382, and they wanted me to be over 300, so that was good. I thought there would be a correlation between the E2 level and the lining thickness. So if my E2 level is right where it should be, shouldn't my lining also have been right where it should be?

They want the lining to be a minimum of 8mm, so I get to add estrace to my drug cocktail, only I get to have the pleasure of using the lovely blue pills as a suppository instead of a regular oral pill!! Yeah, been there, done that also before. I hate the blue discharge!

I can't help but wonder if the surgery I had in October to fix the shape of my uterus could have anything to do with my lining being so thin this time?

I need some thickening vibes please....

Oh Nikki! Big hugs!! I'm hoping that extra estrogen will be all the lining needs to thicken. Thicken up lining!!!! Wow... blue discharge??

Oh Nikki! I am sending thickening vibes your way! Have you been doing acupuncture by any chance? its supposed to really help with that..Okay...I have absolutely no other suggestions....just hope all that estrogen starts working soon!

I'm disappointed you won't be here next week...but I think Josie will be in the same week as you now.

From someone who has had the OPPOSITE problem (a lining of 18 mm once, which is too thick)I will direct all my thick uterine lining vibes your way. Hang in there--your DH is right, you have beautiful normal embryos to transfer, just gotta get the lining right. It can--and will--be done! Good luck!

I, too, thought there would be a direct correlation with E2 and lining. Yet, in my current mock cycle, on CD15, my lining was 10 mm and my E2 was 188. I wonder what that will mean for my lining during the real cycle - will the extra estrogen give me a lining of like 42 or something crazy! Ugh! I'll never figure it all out.

But you've still got plenty of time to get to a good place, you'll see. :)

That stinks, I am really sorry. Waiting really stinks - thinking of you.

Bummer! Sorry about the postponement. I've already gotten a nice, hearty taste of that myself. But my wait was for the better, as yours will be. Just a little something to remember.

In the mean time, I've always had slow to start E2 (in addition to low P4) but pretty good lining thickness and triple layer, so I'm not sure there's a perfect correlation. So maddening! Hey, maybe you can trade me your follie numbers for some of my lining? Haha. :P Keeping you in my thoughts.

That sucks! I'm sorry you've postponed, but you're not out of the game!

Remember Nancy? She had crappy lining, but was able to go ahead and transfer and Karl's over a month old now!

Maybe you need viagra too? See what CCRM says about that.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Amazing that we can put men on the moon and yet the thickening of the uteral lining remains an elusive and mysterious process!!?!

The roller coaster of cycling can get you bummed out one day, only to find out that the body is just taking a little 'longer' than usual...mine are always that way-almost cancelled for low follicle count one day, then bam-twelve show up the next day...I bet that your 8mm is right around the corner.

Your DH is right, the really important part is the beautiful blast that you have already.

Sending you thick, fluffy, plump, three-stripe vibes...

Nikki, grrr, this sucks, let's hope the estrace does the trick (I'm sure it will). I'm just glad CCRM watch so carefully to make absolutely sure those gorgeous embies have the best possible environment. You can do one more week! I bet it seems like an eternity. I'm sending thickening vibes your way.

that's disappointing, hopefully the extra days will give you the lush lining your little blasts need.

my acupuncturist just suggested today bone soups to help nourish the yin and build the lining. maybe worth a shot?

good luck!

1. you know i feel you with the thickness issue!!! i never really got above seven until....the magic blowtorch! i think you should consider it!
2. ah...the days of blue discharge. combine that with the yellow prometrium and it turns green. not good for the np who also moonlights in the std clinic :)
3. hang in there, girlie, being postponed is not all that bad. you're just giving things time to get to the right place.

pls try not to freak out. remain positive, take good care of yourself!

sending lots of good thoughts your way!
xoxo

It seems like surgery expanded the uterus, but it is taking longer for the lining to thicken. That is why they have postponed it.With all the extra estrogen,it will thicken.
Don't worry.Your doctors know best.

Rainbow through the rain?:)...

Chin up brave girl.Sending loving thoughts to you.

love,
shilpa

There usually is a correlation, but when people like us have lining issues, the norm doesn't apply.

YES ... uterine surgery can affect lining.

For my FET, I had 4 full weeks of trying to get my lining up to par. It never made it past 7mm. Estrogen alone did NOTHING for me. I ended up doing crazy things. Check out http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/nleisher and read my details (in text) for C20.

Here's hoping the viagra works for you! Being postponed is 1,000 times better than being cancelled.

As far as thickening your lining - there is a ton more you can do, so don't give up hope.

Oh, darn ~ I'm sorry you got postponed, but I hope the vag estrace does the trick!!!! For what it's worth, I have 2 friends who both had lining issues ~ added vag estrace, and 1 had BFP beta yesterday and the other had + HPT w/ beta tomorrow! So ~ I'm hoping it works for you, too!!!! Good luck, keep us posted!
